Beautiful Day in Balboa Park

Friday Grandma Joyce and I played hooky from work so we could spend the day at Balboa Park with Cash, Aunt Andy and Nana Nancy. We could not have asked for a better day. The sky was as blue as possible and all the flowers were in full bloom, Just Beautiful!!! The kids loved looking at everything we walked by and of course all the old people had to stop and gush over how cute the babies are. Well I have to agree they are pretty cute, but I am bias. Aunt Andy and I can't wait for Zoo and Sea World trips. We are hoping to go to the Wild Animal Park here in April for the Butterfly Extravaganza. Here are pics from our day at Balboa Park

Lucy's First Tattoo

Well you would think with the influence of Cash's Nana in town no funny business would occur. Quite the opposite has happened. Now when Lucy wears shorts that are not complete elastic they seem to show her crack. Wednesday I pick her up from Aunt Andy's and both Nana Nancy and Aunt Andy are laughing. Little did I know that Lucy got her first tattoo that day. I shouldn't be surprised - Aunt Andy has like 8 or 9 tattoo's on her body. Just kidding, Lucy has a very cute and large ladybug tramp stamp. Please enjoy the pictures, I didn't think I would be sharing a blog like this before her 18th birthday let alone on her 7 month birthday.

Milestone Days

Lucy had her 6 month check up on Tuesday and she is extremely healthy. She weighed in at 22lbs. 3oz and 27 inches long. I was encourage to watch her diet a closer and introduce more water into that diet. The one good thing is Lucy cannot sit still and will crawl forward any day so she is burning calories and will slim down on her own. I'm not taking what the Dr. said to heart at all. I know she's happy and healthy!
After Lucy's appointment we visited my long time friend Nikki. Nikki gave birth to a little girl named Sam on March 10th. Sam was by far the smallest baby I've ever held. At birth Sam weighed in at 7lbs 2oz. Lucy and I spent a very relaxing afternoon visiting with Nikki, Sam, her 1-1/2 year old son Ty and Nikki's parents. (Sorry the only picture of Sam she is crying for food.)
So I turned 30 a week ago. I remember a time in my life when I thought 30 was ancient. I must be ancient then! My Grant's mom made a wonderful dinner in celebration of my milestone on Sunday. Our family and friends were there for a quaint get together. It was a perfect evening! ....

Sunday was also the East County Jr. Fair BBQ Fundraiser. This is a BBQ event with an auction and raffle to help raise funds for the week long fair in May. Grant and I have not been to this event since we participated in the El Capitan FFA. I must say some things never change. When the auctioneer was thanking volunteers it was the same names that he called off 10 years ago. All the same faces happy to see us but more importantly ecstatic to meet Lucy. I will honestly say I really never held my girl the whole time we were there. Lucy experienced soft serve ice cream for the first time and was exhausted by the time we made it home and slept very good Sunday night.

Cash is home!!!!! Lucy was sooo excited to see her cousin again. 2 weeks is a long time in baby days. As you can see they love each other's company and Aunt Andy is so good with Lucy.

Sorry I just thought these were too cute to leave out.

The Latest Martin Update

Saturday Lucy was my little helper in the yard. Grandma was teaching her how to pull weeds. Lucy loved her feet being dirty and really enjoyed trying to eat the weeds. Lucy really enjoys outside but wants to be with someone. She is not happy entertaining herself yet. Toys only work for 20 minutes if I'm lucky.

Sunday we spent the day shopping for a new trailer. Grandma and Grandpa need help with selling theirs so we were checking out used trailers to trade in on. And we need one so we can go camping with Trinity and the Herrin family in September. Lucy could really care less about the whole experience and all I got was a good workout from carrying her. Last time she was weighed was with Aunt Andy and the scale read 23 pounds.
We also had a family potluck and Lucy met her new cousin Jacob for the first time. Great-grandma just can't get enough of Lucy. As soon as Lucy arrives GG has her in her arms and won't share with anyone else. Lucy is definitely special to her GG.

I just have to say that it is SOOOO nice having Grant back to work. Having that extra paycheck is such a weight off our shoulders. The biggest draw back - he's been working in LA. He doesn't really mind as long as the traffic isn't too terrible. Last week he had one night that took over 4 hours to get home; he basically came home, took a shower, had a quick bite to eat and straight to bed because the alarm clock goes off at 2:45am. Trust me - we are all thankful he has a job!!!

Grandma has been teaching Lucy how to sing "Happy Birthday". I expect her to sing her little heart out for my 30th!!!

Lucy's first tooth came in last week and the second one is pushing its way through. She has handled the pain very well. Saturday I gave her Baby Orajel twice and I was scolded by Grant saying she was becoming addicted to it. All I know is it helped her nap during the day. Next week she has her 6 month check up so I will definitely update you on her measurements; she is growing in length so hopefully her weight won't be to high. Oh well if it is - she's a happy baby!!

Ginger loves to give kisses!

Lucy's 6 Months Old

Well last Friday my little girl turned half a year old. I can't believe it!! You really have no sense of time till you have a baby. Everyday they show you something new.

I'm not big on studio portraits but Cash had his done and they were just adorable. I made the appointment and got Lucy dolled up in a cute but not an overly girlie outfit and off we went. Typically Lucy will smile for anything and everything but not this morning. On this day she felt there was no need to smile at anything. Out of 30 pictures these are the top 8, and really we only had one printed. Needless to say we will not be doing portraits again or at least not for a long time (I'm a much bigger fan of the candid shots anyways).
