Another Snow Day for the Martins

I know, I know, what's the big deal about snow?? Well for San Diego natives it's huge!! Lucky for Lucy and I Tuesday night rained all night and Grant was home on Wednesday. We had a family fun day. The day started by driving to the Laguna Mountains where there was at least 6" of snow. As Grant climbed higher up the hill there was snow knee deep on him. This is a lot for San Diego people and it was fresh, fluffy powder. The temperature when we parked was 32 degrees. It was perfect snow weather. Lucy is beginning to like snow the more and more we go. She is getting a little more brave and willing to walk by herself till she falls down and is covered in the cold white fluff. After the snow in Laguna we drove to Julian for some lunch and pie. Now in all my 30 years I had never been to the town of Julian. The closest I had come was for a wedding 9 years ago but, never into the heart of the town. So we warmed up with some lunch at a fun restaurant and then bought fresh apple cider from the Julian Cider Mill and then it was off to the Julian Pie Co. Mmm that pie was delicious after dinner.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Snoozin' In Saturdays

Thanks to the ladies at Mama Drama this prompt was established. I too have many pictures of sleepy heads in my house. Why is it not me sleeping?? Well, here are two pictures from just the other day when I was kicked out of my bed by a Miss Lucy.

Well we finally had our final Christmas. The big joke now is that Lucy is going to think she gets presents once a month (little does she know.) Lea Rene was feeling well enough that she joined in for dinner and presents. Funny thing was that she did not put tags on the presents having Christmas a month later and after her surgery was a good memory game for her.

As you can see Lucy got a slide, and a recliner that matches our couches as her big gifts from Grandma and Grandpa. Aunt Holly bought her a camera and a bath-time ducky that quacks different songs when activated by water. And, Aunt Cathy and Uncle Al saved gifts for Lucy so she got to open a tablet of paper, markers and a dog in a purse.

She loved everything she received and Grant and I enjoyed the relaxing evening. While driving home Grant and I both said we had no problem with having a month later. The night was mellow and we had time to sit and enjoy the evening. Just another 11 more months and we'll be doing it all over again.
