Grant's First Father's Day

I hope and I believe that Grant had a great first Father's Day. His day started with a simple card and on the cover was a John Deere rider-mower which he wanted to believe was his gift (even though it takes all of 5 minute to mow the small amount of grass we do have). But as he soon learned when he opened the card that was not his gift at all. It was just a card with a picture inside and was signed Love, Lucy and Baby Martin #2. The picture inside was Lucy's little brother or sister. The look on his face was priceless and I should have had the camera ready.
Later that day we went to his parents for dinner. Aunt Cathy and Uncle Al were there along with Judy. Shortly after we arrived Grant handed his card to his mom and told her this was the card from Lucy. Holly was standing beside her and within moments the screaming the began and the word was out. Our expected due date is somewhere around January 26 to February 4, 2010. Happy Fathers Day Grant!!!

Wild Animal Park Fun

Sunday, Lucy, Aunt Holly and I headed to the Wild Animal Park for a great day. Lucy went on her first carousel ride which Aunt Holly has all the pictures of. Lucy really never showed much emotion on her face during the ride. Although she did have a death grip on my arm. From there we went to the petting zoo where Lucy was not sure of the deer. Mom had to do all the petting while Lucy squeaked to go see the next deer but would never reach out to pet one. Next we saw many animals on our way to 'Journey to Africa' a new tram ride that takes you through acres of animals living in open spaces just as if they were in Africa. Lucy was not really interested as it was difficult for her to spot most the animals and she was getting tired. After the ride Holly and I decided we would just walk around so we walked and found a nice little grass area where Lucy could crawl around and just be out of her stroller. From there we found the elephants and we saw 2 baby elephants. The one in the picture below is only a day or two old, he was still stumbling to walk. He was the cutest little thing. Lucy passed out while visiting the elephants and before we knew it, it was 5:00 and the park was closing. It was a great day - and even better it was all free thanks to Aunt Holly.

Monkey's, Panda's and Elephant's

I know it's been a while but we have been very busy. This past weekend Grandpa Gerry's cousin Judy and her daughter Jennifer arrived from Wisconsin. Grant, Lucy and I met up with them Friday night for dinner. It was great to finally meet the person I had emailed with. Saturday Gerry took Judy and Jennifer to Viejas outlet for some shopping. I do believe they found some good buys. Sunday we all headed to Silver Strand State Beach for a cold, breezy day. This was Jennifer's first time ever to the ocean, she really enjoyed collecting shells. Lucy was loving the sand on her hands and really enjoyed the cold water. She kept trying to sit and crawl into the water. Monday was Zoo day. This was Lucy and Jennifer's first trip to the San Diego Zoo. We saw plenty of monkey's, birds, the panda's, and much more. Lucy favorite by far was the panda's. Throughout the entire exhibit there are 'Quiet Please' signs. Well as soon as Lucy saw the black and white bear the screaming and reaching began. Quickly I had to insert the pacifier hoping that would quiet her down but she continued to scream with the pacifier still in her mouth. It was comical and at least I know she saw the cute cuddly bears. Immediately after the panda exhibit she was sound asleep for the next 3 hours. Here are some weekend fun pictures. . .
